Colchester Moot Hall at the Town Hall was once again the venue for the glittering Colchester Youth Awards ceremony which this year appropriately featured a super heroes theme.
Colchester's young heroes of the evening were selected from over a hundred nominations for eleven individual awards. The short listed nominees were all invited to the ceremony where the winner of each category was announced and presented with his/her prize by the award sponsors.
The Awards were the inspiration of Dave Petrie and Matthew Young who had the support of former Mayors Terry Sutton, Richard Gower and current Mayor Ray Gamble was happy to have the baton passed to him as part of his mayoral role:
"I add my congratulations to those who have been nominated for an award whether you win or not. You are all a great example to everyone. Please continue to make a difference - your contributions are very much valued." declares Ray.
The Colchester Youth Awards is currently chaired by Matthew Young, who speaks for all when he says 'As Chair of the Youth Awards I would like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone in Colchester to think about a young person that they know who has made an achievement in life, or has done something that is worth celebrating. Some achievements may seem minor, but for that individual or group it may be a triumph against the odds, or the actions that improved life for others. Nominate these young people and share their successes – we would love to hear from you.
As well as the award sponsors listed above, the Partnership would like to thank Palladian Press for printing the marketing material, e-teksys Solutions for managing the website and Softview Conservatories for sponsoring the event programme. Also, can we please thank all of the live acts who provided the entertainment for the evening:
